The Life
Jesus said that He came that we might have and enjoy life to the full till it overflows.
What life was He talking about?
If you back-up just a line or two in the scripture in the book of John 10:10, Jesus also said that the thief, talking about Satan, comes but to steal, kill and destroy. Many times I have used this when I was going through a trying time of my faith and quote this very verse. However, I see this now in a different light.
Go back to the beginning where God created man and breathed the breath of life into him. The Amplified Bible says the breath or spirit of eternal life. Now go to John 1 and read the first four verses. Notice verse four, “In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of men.”
When God breathed into Adam the Life, it was the eternalness of God Himself.
As Believers, we know that Adam ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and at that very moment he and Eve died spiritually. All of mankind was separated from God. Why all mankind? Because the Life that was in him had the DNA of everyone that was to be born, forever. Now because he sinned, death, sickness and disease entered the world. God created us to be like Him and live forever just as He does. Think about that for a moment or two.
God then sent His Son, Jesus, The Christ, The Anointed One, to take all the sin that had come into the world through the first Adam and destroy it forever. 1 John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” He came to give us back the Life that was stolen in the garden.
Now we that are in Him have that abundant, overflowing life within us. Jesus said in the book of John 7:37,38 “In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,” If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.””
Picture a glass that has been filled with water. Now continue to pour water into it. It will overflow and get everything around it wet. That is how we are to be with the Life that is in us. We should be affecting everything and everyone around us. The atmosphere should change wherever we go. This Life is not for us to hang onto and not share. It is ours to share with everyone else. Why? Go back to the beginning and look at what God said to Adam, “Go forth, be fruitful and multiply.” That doesn’t just mean go have a bunch of babies. God wanted Adam and all of man to replenish or spread the garden to every corner of this earth.
Now take the Life that is in you and go out and spread it around!
